Public Procurement accounts for close to 30% of India’s GDP
Indian economy is progressively moving towards an era of e-Governance. The focus on e-Governance, at this point in time, with Central Government pressing like never before, is picking up steam big time. To speed up e-Governance application across the various bodies of Government at National, State, and Local levels, the ‘Digital India’ approach has been adopted. Interestingly, to make the cost of ownership of these large scale e-Governance projects affordable, Government of India is adopting Open Source Software.
Initiatives such as NeGP 2020 aim to make all government bodies accessible to common man. The launch of 27 Mission Mode Projects (MMPs) – 11 state MMPs, 9 Central MMPs and 7 Integral MMPs has been in a well-planned manner. The government looks determined to spend on e-Governance in the areas of e-Panchayat, agriculture, road transport, CCTNS, e-Municipalities and health, treasuries, employment exchange, commercial taxes, PDS, education and e-Procurement.
And that’s, not all that is to it!
India is going digital with smart cities, virtual classrooms and tech-start-ups. Thrust being put behind ‘Make in India’ campaign is oblivious to none. At this point in time, C1 is glad to be at the core of e-Governance execution by helping government initiatives sail through e-Procurements projects that C1 India is delivering now and has successfully delivered in the past. Several large scale projects such as the one for Government of Andhra Pradesh needs no explicit mention. It was one of the largest projects executed at the state level in India and was awarded Golden Icon Award and was also nominated for Top 20 innovations in world transforming government in 2007 by Harvard University.
“Indian government is recognizing that new technology investments may help reduce the negative effects of austerity, improve operations and reduce future expenditures”
“IT services, which includes consulting, implementation, IT outsourcing and business process outsourcing, will be the largest overall spending category throughout 2017 within the government sector” -Gartner
